Anthony Albanese has brushed off the threat of minority government after next year’s federal election, rallying Labor MPs around a major second term government agenda and ruling out a deal with the Greens.

Facing a rapidly closing legislative window before Christmas, and a race to the polls early in the new year, the prime minister told a closed-door caucus meeting on Tuesday that majority government was the only option.
