Voice vote will drive Australia’s next move on republic
Saturday’s coronation may be the prelude for a new republic push in Australia. But the real momentum will come from the success or otherwise of the First Nations referendum.
There’s a scene in The Crown, the British drama series, in which Queen Elizabeth II tires of the serial complaining of her oldest son, Prince Charles, and asks him whether he intends to become the king.
After he responds in the affirmative, she says: “Then might I suggest you start acting like one.”
