The US government warned it might not be able to conduct operations with Australia’s elite special forces following allegations of war crimes committed by the Special Air Service Regiment in Afghanistan, Australia’s military chief has revealed.
One soldier was moved from their posting as part of efforts to preserve the relationship, General Angus Campbell told a Senate estimates hearing during a fiery round of questioning from crossbench senators Jacqui Lambie and David Shoebridge.
