Truth-telling risks inflaming community conflict: report
Indigenous Australians say they are worried that truth-telling risks inflaming community division and causing Indigenous suffering to be discredited or undermined, in a warning over the next step in Labor’s contentious reconciliation pathway.
Amid heightened concern about community cohesion, and six months on from the bitter Voice to parliament campaign, a report by Reconciliation Australia and the University of NSW found the majority of non-Indigenous people have no sophisticated knowledge of the treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australian history.
