Teal MPs could throw their support behind Peter Dutton’s bid to become prime minister, insisting that ending the budget’s dependency on personal income tax and action on climate change will be major sticking points in hung parliament negotiations.

Wentworth MP Allegra Spender on Wednesday left open the option of backing Labor or the Coalition in the event neither side has a majority in parliament after next year’s poll, saying negotiations on who takes power could push the Coalition to do more to cut carbon emissions.
