Sun and subsea cables could make WA a data centre giant: premier

Western Australia is primed to cash in on land-strapped Singapore’s massive demand for data storage, according to Premier Roger Cook, who says the state’s proximity to Asia and a bevy of undersea cable connections could transform the west coast into a data processing powerhouse.

The Labor premier believes the state has all the ingredients to develop a major data centre industry, given its large renewable energy potential and sub-sea infrastructure connecting Australia to Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
