The Commonwealth and states will co-fund temporary energy bill assistance which will be extended to households and businesses, on top of a lower power price delivered through price caps on gas and black coal.

The proposal, expected to be signed of by national cabinet on Friday afternoon, will not finalise the size of the assistance which will be delivered in the form of lower power bills in order to take pressure off inflation.
