States and federal government to streamline charities rules
Moves to update fundraising regulations for Australia’s charity and not-for-profit sector have been agreed between the Morrison government and the states and territories, part of plans to bring donations rules into the online age.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said national cabinet and the Council on Federal Financial Relations had agreed to develop a new framework to ease the regulatory burden on charitable organisations, potentially saving an annual $13.3 million cost from inconsistent and overlapping rules.
