Queensland was funded for Olympics so ‘give us money for Comm Games’

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed the future of the Melbourne Airport Rail and Geelong Fast Rail remain under review despite the projects’ funding being retained in the federal budget, and has again pressured the Albanese government to help fund the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Mr Andrews had declared in the lead-up to the budget that Victoria needed a fairer share of federal funding although strongly rejected the tag of a bailout for the heavily indebted state, which brings down its budget in less than two weeks.
