Policy-making process mostly 'flawed, mediocre'

The Coalition government’s 2018 redress scheme for the victims of institutional child sexual abuse has been singled out by think tanks on either end of the political spectrum as a good example of so-called “evidence-based policy”, according to a report released on Friday night.

Other policies that came closest to best-practice decision-making were the Victorian Environment Protection Amendment Bill passed earlier this year, and last year’s Queensland Government Termination of Pregnancy Act, which legalises abortion.
