Faced with a grumpy electorate hurting with rising living costs, the prime minister had little choice but to ground “Airbus Albo” after criticism of the volume of international travel he did last year.

But Albanese’s retreat from the global stage is undesirable given the turmoil in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and yes, even the US.
