Parliament needs more politicians, committee finds
Labor looks set to cap spending in federal election campaigns and significantly reduce disclosure thresholds for political donations, while adding two new senators each for both the ACT and the Northern Territory.
In moves likely to make it harder for teal candidates, Clive Palmer and other independents to challenge the major parties, a parliamentary committee on Monday recommended spending caps and for the source of donations above $1000 to be reported publicly in real time.
