Omicron cases reach 37 but no sign the variant is more severe

Australian health authorities tracking the omicron variant do not believe it is more severe than previously strains of COVID-19, but efforts to slow transmission across the country are continuing.
Chief Health Officer Paul Kelly told a parliamentary committee on Tuesday there were 37 recorded cases of the latest variant of concern in Australia, including 10 linked to overseas travel.
