Australia’s first overseas-born Chinese MP, Gladys Liu, has angrily rejected suggestions that the Coalition’s anti-Beijing rhetoric is turning voters against the government in one of Australia’s most marginal seats.
Pressed on whether she shared the Coalition’s concerns about China’s increasing aggression, the Chisholm MP said the idea that Chinese-Australian voters might have divided loyalties was “offensive”.
