October 7 protests would do more damage to social cohesion

Ideally, the protest organisers would rule out the rallies proceeding based on taste and sensitivity, without even waiting for the court decision in NSW.

The NSW Police have made the correct call by asking the courts to block pro-Palestinian protests this October long weekend in Sydney. NSW Labor Premier Chris Minns has also done the right thing by backing the justified legal action to keep the peace and prevent the conflict in the Middle East from further damaging social cohesion.

And so has Anthony Albanese. Yesterday, the prime minister called for the rallies planned for Sydney and Melbourne on Monday to coincide with the first anniversary of October 7 not to go ahead.
