NSW Premier urges ‘personal responsibility’ on vaccines as cases surge

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet will not reintroduce strict indoor mask-wearing rules despite the number of COVID-19 cases in the state surging almost five-fold over the past week, from 536 on Monday to 2566 on Sunday.

Hospital admissions for the virus, which lag case data, have increased at a far slower rate, up more than 30 per cent from 171 to 227 on Sunday, while intensive care admissions were up 17 per cent, from 24 to 28, over the week.
