Exactly one year ago this week, before any of us had heard about the coronavirus, Anthony Albanese attempted to recalibrate Labor's approach to climate change to ensure that whatever new policy it adopted did not contribute to yet another election loss.

The Opposition Leader did not set out to change Labor's ambitions regarding emissions reduction, just the sales pitch.
