New West Australian Premier Roger Cook has promised a return to stability in government after a tumultuous week in state politics sparked by the shock resignation of his predecessor, Mark McGowan.

Mr Cook was sworn in as the state’s 31st premier at a ceremony at Government House in Perth on Thursday, along with new Deputy Premier and Treasurer Rita Saffioti.
