New military technology in government’s sights

Australia will acquire Tomahawk cruise missiles as part of an upgrade for the navy’s air warfare destroyers, and new missiles for fighter jets under the government’s planned arms build-up to extend long-range strike and deterrence capability.

All six Collins class submarines will have their lives extended, leaving them in service until the late 2040s, while deep maintenance of the submarines will stay in Adelaide, fending off a fierce bid from Western Australia.
