Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce will hand Scott Morrison his party’s demands over net zero climate policy by the end of the week – including keeping alive the option of a new coal-fired power station – as momentum builds for a deal.

With country Liberals supporting net zero by 2050, and outright opposition limited to a handful of Nationals, key Nationals and Liberals warned, however, that any deal needed to be settled sooner than later.
