Given the sheer volume of government money that has been thrown around in recent months, $3.3 million is small beer.

In isolation, however, it is still a fair chunk of cash and increasingly it appears it will be sprayed against the wall to reach a conclusion at which many have already arrived – that few, if any, are prepared to build new coal-fired power in Australia.
