Ministers should be banned from making grants, says Grattan

All government grants should be open and competitive and ministers banned from choosing winners, the Grattan Institute has recommended after releasing analysis showing widespread bias in favour of government-held and marginal electorates.
“Taking the pork off the table would improve the quality of public spending and strengthen our democracy,” report lead author and Grattan Institute CEO Danielle Wood said.
