Lebanon evacuation plans under way as Hezbollah menaces Israeli border

The Albanese government is drawing up plans to evacuate up to 20,000 Lebanese-Australians from Lebanon should war break out between Israel and the Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah.

The contingency planning comes as Defence Minister Richard Marles admitted the safety of those Australians was behind stern warnings to Israel’s top local diplomat that the government would not support the Jewish state if it went to war with Hezbollah.
