About 43 per cent of projects funded under the federal government's controversial sports grants program were ineligible for funding, parliament has been told.

Former minister Bridget McKenzie quit after a scathing Auditor-General's report into the $100 million program, in which "dozens of versions" of a colour-coded spreadsheet were used to allocate funds to marginal seats being targeted by the Coalition at the 2018 federal election.
