Labor considers ‘blended’ Medicare funding model

Health Minister Mark Butler is considering overhauling the way GPs are paid to better treat complex, ongoing health problems that are not being managed well under Medicare’s universal healthcare model.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Mr Butler are expected to announce a range of new health policies as a cost-of-living relief pitch to voters before the federal election, which could be in March, April or May this year.
