Labor’s plans to clear its legislative backlog have been dashed, with the Senate rising after a week in which only two bills passed, further delaying key government measures on housing and the environment.

The Coalition and Labor are expected to hold more talks on the government’s Nature Positive reforms in coming weeks, following months of intense lobbying from major miners and state governments including Western Australia.
