Electricity bills to rise despite falling coal and LNG prices

Treasury’s predictions of a fall in thermal coal and LNG export prices will not flow through to lower power bills while gas prices remain high, according to energy experts.
With budget papers warning electricity prices would increase by 56 per cent over the next two years, Treasurer Jim Chalmers has foreshadowed further intervention into the electricity market before the next budget.
