The Albanese government risks running out of time before the next election to pass its first-term commitments – more than 60 bills remain before parliament and at least two dozen more are still to come.

With the election due within 12 months and a swath of policies slated for consideration in the second half of the year, ministers privately concede that some decisions could be pushed back to a likely second term.
