Dutton willing to negotiate minority government, PM rules out deals

Anthony Albanese has ruled out forming a coalition with the Greens or any other crossbenchers in the event of a hung parliament, but Peter Dutton says he is prepared to negotiate with like-minded independents should he fall short of a majority on election day.

In a major speech to the National Press Club on Friday, the prime minister also vowed that there would be no referendum in his second term, be it for the republic or four-year terms of federal parliament, despite his strong and frequently stated support for the latter.
