‘Best friend’ Dutton promises miners he’ll target IR, green tape

Peter Dutton will unwind Labor’s industrial relations changes, which the mining industry says are killing productivity, as part of a pre-election pledge to be the best friend the sector will ever have.

But while also promising to “lean into growing opportunities like critical minerals, rare earths and uranium”, he will not reverse the Coalition’s decision to oppose Labor’s production tax credits, which are designed to incentivise critical minerals extraction and processing.
