Dirty money laws to help stem NDIS fraud

Law enforcement agencies have told Labor that moves to extend protections against the circulation of dirty money in Australia have the potential to help stem rampant fraud in the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

As Labor grapples with fraud and up to 5 per cent, or $2 billion a year, in NDIS spending being made in error, reforms to anti-money laundering and criminal financing rules will be extended to include new reporting obligations for real estate agents, lawyers and accountants.
