Details on the Voice would make debate less divisive
Detail is crucial if Australia is to have an informed and fair dinkum debate about a Voice to parliament.
Having not made a lot of it during the election campaign, Anthony Albanese has now made a referendum to enshrine an Indigenous Voice in the Australian Constitution a first-term priority for the new Labor government.
Yet he has balanced the Gough Whitlam-style attempt to crash-through as quickly as possible by seeking the bipartisan support that has been an essential precondition for constitutional amendments in the past.
