Mental health decline among young reaches crisis point

Former Australian of the Year Patrick McGorry has warned the Albanese government that a crisis in the mental health of younger Australians is set to hurt productivity in the economy and further strain the public health system.
Professor McGorry’s warnings, issued in private to Health Minister Mark Butler, follow a 50 per cent increase in defined mental disorders among 16- to 24-year-olds.
