Defence could sue Boeing over ailing $650m war drones project

The army’s flagship program to acquire new spy drones has blown out by tens of millions of dollars and is running two years late, fuelling the prospect the federal government will pursue US aerospace giant Boeing for damages.

The Australian Financial Review understands the Defence Department is increasingly frustrated with the performance of Boeing subsidiary Insitu Pacific to build 24 drones in Brisbane, putting the $650 million project in jeopardy.
