Federal Labor has stopped short of committing more funding for Victoria’s massive Suburban Rail Loop project, warning that Premier Jacinta Allan must work with the Infrastructure Australia on a credible business case first.

Beginning a politically fraught sales job on $7 billion in cuts to road and rail projects around the country, while announcing $6.7 billion in new commitments, Infrastructure Minister Catherine King said the cross-city commuter project was important for Victoria’s long-term development.
