Coalition and Labor agree to electoral law changes

The Coalition and Labor will team up to change Australia’s electoral laws, shortening pre-polling periods before federal elections and forcing the deregistration of some minor parties.
Labor’s caucus meeting on Tuesday decided not to oppose the plan crafted by Assistant Minister for Electoral Matters Ben Morton, a move the Greens said represented an “undemocratic attack on minor parties” in the federal sphere.
