China will win AI race if research paused: ex-Google chief

Former Google boss Eric Schmidt has rejected fellow tech leaders’ call for a six-month pause on research into artificial intelligence, saying such a freeze would only advantage China.
But in an exclusive interview with The Australian Financial Review, Dr Schmidt agreed there were legitimate worries over AI, and urged tech sector leaders to immediately come together and set standards on its use.
