Former Liberal minister Bruce Billson will replace Kate Carnell as the federal government’s Small Business Ombudsman, despite receiving a bipartisan censure by Parliament in 2018.
The one-time small business minister and MP for the Victorian seat of Dunkley is expected to be appointed within weeks, with cabinet set to sign off on a new ombudsman before Ms Carnell’s term ends on March 10.
