Black cat steals the scene in Kevin Rudd’s official portrait
Artist Ralph Heimans insists a black cat stalking across a chessboard conspicuous in Kevin Rudd’s official Parliament House portrait has nothing to do with the former prime minister’s time in office.
“Don’t interpret anything you see in any other political way,” the Australian-born, London-based portrait painter told an audience of about 300 of Mr Rudd’s family, friends and former foes gathered in the Members’ Hall of Parliament House for the unveiling.
