Some of the country’s best-known athletes have thrown their weight behind calls for a royal commission into the Bondi terrorist attack and the antisemitism that underscored it, arguing the issue is “bigger than politics” and the Albanese government’s response must match the “gravity of the moment”.
More than 60 sports stars including champion Olympic swimmers Ian Thorpe and Grant Hackett, former AFL star Gerard Healy and hockey great Danni Roche, are the latest high-profile names to join the groundswell of support in favour of a national inquiry.
