Without a hint of irony, the Greens issued a press release this week urging Labor to not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

The cri de coeur was a response to the opposition spokesman on climate change, Chris Bowen, ruling out categorically any prospect of Labor – should it win the next election – increasing its promise to reduce emissions by 43 per cent over 2005 levels by 2030.
