Anthony Albanese’s office is demanding a former senator pay $1344 to access the first 197 days of the prime minister’s official diary, in a move transparency experts labelled disconcerting and unreasonable.

The decision to impose a large fee to find out with whom the prime minister has met, how regularly and for how long, comes after he denied a request from The Australian Financial Review for the first 100 days of his diary.
