Labor has come under fire for its move to scrap a cashless debit card that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese slammed as a “patronising” scheme imposed on unwilling communities.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton used the Coalition’s opening question time attack to blast the government for abolishing a system that he said had led to lower rates of gambling and other social ills in order to “please an inner city woke audience”.
