Ailing economy vindicates big-spending budget: Chalmers

Australia’s flatlining economy was vindication for last month’s big-spending federal budget, Treasurer Jim Chalmers has claimed.
After the latest national accounts figures showed the economy grew at just 0.1 per cent for the March quarter, and 1.1 per cent annually, the lowest number since the early 1990s recession, Dr Chalmers said he had got the balance right in May.
