Lambie to prop up Tasmanian Liberals

The Jacqui Lambie Network has announced a deal with the Tasmanian Liberals, keeping the Rockliff government in power after last month’s inconclusive state election result.

Lambie’s new MPs – Miriam Beswick (Braddon), Andrew Jenner (Lyons), and Rebekah Pentland (Bass) – will give a promise of parliamentary confidence and supply to the Liberals.

In a statement, the party said its guiding principles would be transparency and integrity.

They have agreed to see through the implementation of the recommendations from the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings, and an independent review of the state’s finances and the proposed AFL stadium.

Also on the agenda is political donation reform and a tougher integrity commission.

“The JLN ran in the recent state election to provide Tasmanians with a choice of a fourth political party that cares about representing the people of Tasmania, with integrity and transparency,” the party said.

“The three new MPs are fully committed to delivering on their promise to ensure greater transparency, accountability and integrity in our parliament.

“They look forward to working with the Rockliff government to serve the best interests of all Tasmanians.”
