Evolution replaces IBM as Gowings' online partner

A small Australian electronic commerce company has elbowed aside IBM to partner Gowings Bros as the venerable retailer moves to revamp its online menswear site.

Evolution Group, a Sydney-based software firm one-third owned by the St George Bank, said yesterday it had won the contract to provide Gowings with transaction processing and back-end integration software. The contract was held by IBM, the world's largest computer company, which promoted Gowings as one of its "e-business" partners.
