Energy price: Default market offer rush makes customer confusion 'a certainty'
Power industry and consumer advocates said the Morrison government's decision to regulate a default market offer for electricity prices with only 10 days' consultation was unprecedented and smacked of desperation.
They said the rush to implement the default offer before the federal election flouted the Australian Government Guide to Regulation, and risked poor outcomes by leaving too little time for consideration of how the default market offer worked with other measures to boost electricity affordability.
