A new round of nickel fever swept the Australian Stock Exchange yesterday after the announcement of a promising discovery at Weld Range, in Western Australia, by Dragon Mining NL.

Dragon rose 33 per cent to 17c a share as a quarter of the company traded hands after it said it had identified a substantial laterite nickel deposit at its Weld Range project, about 70km north-west of Cue.
