Min-Tech 8, a listed miner turned e-commerce player, moved yesterday to take on AAPT, Austar, OzEmail, Primus and Telstra in the rural internet access market.

It announced it had acquired 53 per cent of the new internet portal Countrytowns.com.au, which provides an information gateway to country population centres.
