China says Australia trade deal is a model for Asia-Pacific

China will use its free trade deal with Australia as a model to push its bid for a broader lucrative Asian trade bloc just as a rival US bid for a regional deal has stalled in the Congress.
Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said after the signing of the China-Australia agreement in Canberra on Wednesday that Beijing hoped to take several lessons from the trade deal to the 16-member Asian agreement it has been promoting.
